Shots from theshow

What a show!

This year was another record – 418 entries, 41 people entered, and 32 people won place cards.

The new marquee felt very spacious, was admired by all and kept showers at bay on the day. Judging by the number of teas served, we seemed to have more people then ever visiting the show. We had several visitors who came to admire and buy our produce and who seemed to enjoy themselves.

Thank you to all who contributed, including preparing, clearing away, erecting and dismantling the marquee and gazebos, baking, helping on the day, entering the show, selling raffle tickets, staffing the tombola, etc. etc., plus those who just came to join in the fun.
Special mention must go to Denise Johnson of Epilepsy Action for opening the show, to Steve Raw for exemplary judging, to Mags and Keith Barrett for tasting every jam, jelly, chutney and pickle including the extra hot chilli sauce, to Clare Handby who was a tower of strength in the café, to Drew Davidson for a constant supply of tea to the marquee builders and fine cheesecakes, to Eugene McBride and Fran Schofield for heroism up a ladder beyond the call of duty, and to Darren Burd for volunteering his workmates to help take the marquee down! But the show would never have taken place without two very special people – Barry Raw and Eileen Handby.

This year’s trophy winners were:

Burley Model Shield
(Joint winners)

Brendan & Diane Cunningham
Tony & Eileen Handby

Eric Emms Trophy
(Best Tomatoes)

Joe Wray Trophy (Best Potatoes)

Keith & Mags Barrett
